HHG to Atsugi Question
- /u/leviathanms on Atsugi off-base housing question October 11, 2020Sorry for the late reply. I've tried with four different properties thus far, and they've all been a bust. They all are not willing to accept certain conditions in the SOFA lease. I guess I can't blame them for not wanting to go through the hassle of something new, but you'd think a person who's […]
- /u/tolstoy425 on Atsugi off-base housing question September 4, 2020Good luck and I'd hate to see your hopes dashed. Your dedication is admirable. You should really look into the JLPT asap if you aren't rated already. I really think you should square away your looming immigration situation before trying to make any serious moves. In regards to the hanko/inkan, unless you're in someone's Koseki […]
- /u/TheRealHeroOf on Atsugi off-base housing question September 3, 2020The written test is available in English in all 47 prefectures and is not difficult at all. And given that we are all ready allowed to drive here, the practical portion is waive-able. At least it was for another SOFA member that lives near me. He said the Aomori Licensing Office didn't make him take […]
- /u/BusterBluth13 on Atsugi off-base housing question September 3, 2020I remember when I went through Yokosuka’s brief, they said that at the end of the day, the requirement is that your landlord/agent is willing to offer a bilingual SOFA lease and that the place passes inspection. If you think the answer to those are yes, just ask the housing office.
- /u/tolstoy425 on Atsugi off-base housing question September 3, 2020I just have to ask. How are you going to acquire a Japanese drivers license and expect to register inkan with the city office while SOFA status? Beyond even being able to acquire a license as a non-resident and not on a visa, they don't exactly just give you a license as an American driver. […]
HHG to Atsugi Question
- /u/Smart-Ambassador-756 on Atsugi ROM for vaccinated personnel, are there options? May 29, 2021Atsugi was not a bad place to ROM as long as your vaccinated. The ROM coordinator allows medically cleared personnel and those vaccinated access to the NEX, commissary, food court etc. Just left this last week. Also the ROM coordinator will ensure you get a ride to the airport once done to get to your […]
- /u/Mdownsouthmodel92 on Atsugi ROM for vaccinated personnel, are there options? May 28, 2021Japan the country requires it.
- /u/itisjustin on Atsugi ROM for vaccinated personnel, are there options? May 27, 2021Careful of those dirty buses
- /u/All1spie on Atsugi ROM for vaccinated personnel, are there options? May 27, 2021Right, I know it varies from base to base especially in Japan. Where I am currently at they're fairly relaxed as long as you're immunized. you are allowed to ROM at your own residence for a period up to 10 days still being allowed to travel from home to work.
- /u/FarSlighted on Atsugi ROM for vaccinated personnel, are there options? May 27, 2021There are still bases that require ROM for immunized personnel? Damn. After I received my shots I called up my detailer and requested that my two week ROM was removed from my PCS orders. About a week later my ORDMOD came in and BAM.. no more ROM.

- /u/bukkakeparty on My great uncle sailed all the way to Japan with the US Navy in the early 1900s. Started Journaling from the moment he enlisted in 1906. September 1, 2021What really strikes me is how much the guys in the back of the first picture would fit into today’s Navy. The haircuts, beer and smiles haven’t changed. Something that rarely happens nowadays is going on a port visit in a dress uniform. It sounds lame but in the right environment (Australia) you get great […]
- /u/No_Ice_Please on My great uncle sailed all the way to Japan with the US Navy in the early 1900s. Started Journaling from the moment he enlisted in 1906. September 1, 2021And the sailor is showing its butthole to the camera😂 in that respect, nothing has changed. I know some ships had ship dogs up until at least Vietnam in the 60s.
- /u/Gordon_Sly on My great uncle sailed all the way to Japan with the US Navy in the early 1900s. Started Journaling from the moment he enlisted in 1906. September 1, 2021I love how not much has changed. The uniforms look like today's dress whites and everyone has a beer in their hand. I would have never guessed this photo was from the early 1900's. Awesome.

- /u/Special_Jessie on PCSing to Sasebo this Friday. What advice would you give me? November 11, 2021The Naval base in sasebo is so small and sad. You'll go to the AF base for the commissary and their version of NEX. But the one little restaurant they do have by the piers has.a good chicken sandwich.

- /u/EWCM on Iwakuni Clinic Info April 30, 2021If you want to see what openings they’ve had in the recent past, scroll through their Facebook page. They do have some civilian personnel, but I don’t know about PAs specifically.

- Iwakuni Clinic Info April 30, 2021I'm looking at a job through the MCCS, and I have a spouse who is a Physicians Assistant. HHG to Yokota Question
- /u/Twinzzzo on Is being fully vaccinated enough to fly from SeaTac to Yokota? August 4, 2021If you’re coming to yokosuka - you will catch the government shuttle to yokosuka then you will be placed on holding status - meaning you will not be able to leave base for 14 days - if your ship is not here you will be going to TPU
- /u/MarsPornographer on Is being fully vaccinated enough to fly from SeaTac to Yokota? August 4, 2021Welp. That's that. Guess I'm taking the test before I fly.
- /u/PM_ME_YOUR_BILGES on Is being fully vaccinated enough to fly from SeaTac to Yokota? August 4, 2021Check the yokota website. Even though there is a navy message saying no testing is required, yokota still requires it. I just had a guy miss his flight because he needed to get a pcr test done. https://www.yokota.af.mil/COVID-19/ Go down to airport covid test.
- /u/Caranath128 on Is being fully vaccinated enough to fly from SeaTac to Yokota? August 4, 2021Lucky bastard. Enjoy Yokosuka. Have some CoCo Curry for me

- /u/jdub213818 on Civilian going to Yokosuka and staying on base, a few questions! September 24, 2021They pump you (service members) full of vax at bootcamp already and don’t question it, don’t know why people make it a big deal for two more shots for the COVID.
- /u/joule2387 on Civilian going to Yokosuka and staying on base, a few questions! September 23, 2021Yeah that’s what I thought. Was there earlier this year and that was the extent of it.

- /u/MilForFun on Okinawa January 10, 2022The only good thing about Okinawa is the cheap flights to mainland Japan
- /u/SpaceMonkeyintospace on Okinawa July 20, 2021As a single enlisted, Okinawa is pretty fun, specifically pre-Covid, but I can’t speak on housing. But, with that said, there’s still a lot you can do with restrictions depending on vaccination status. Since I’m assuming you and your husbando will own a vehicle, travel and sightseeing will be a breeze. Whatever you do, you […]
